Frequently Asked Questions
Below are commonly asked questions about the Faculty/Employee Assistance Program.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. I may need more than 8 counseling sessions, what do I do?
The Faculty/Employee Assistance Program offers short-term counseling sessions for up to 8 sessions. If you're enrolled in a Dartmouth medical plan through Cigna, you can access longer term counseling services through the medical plan, including in-network providers and virtual care services. Visit mycigna.com > Find Care & Costs > Counseling.
2. Does Cigna offer additional EAP services?
If you are enrolled in one of the Dartmouth medical plans through Cigna, you do have access to Cigna's EAP network, which provides 3 EAP sessions at no cost. However, this is a completely separate EAP than what Dartmouth offers through the Faculty/Employee Assistance Program, including a different network so you will not find the same counselors in both networks.
- If you still wish to use Cigna's EAP, visit mycigna.com > Coverage > Employee Assistance Program > Visit an EAP Therapist (select 'View EAP only' in the search bar to find in-network counselors and request an EAP code to share with your counselor before your visit).
