Pulse Program

This is one of the Wellness Benefit options that active benefits-eligible employees may elect in FlexOnline as a new hire, or during the Open Enrollment period.  

The Pulse Program will be discontinued on December 31, 2025. We hope you’ve found this program valuable. If you are currently enrolled in the Pulse Program, please make note of these important reminders:

-- You may earn rewards through December 31, 2025.
-- You MUST redeem your rewards by January 31, 2026, otherwise they will be forfeited.
-- During Open Enrollment (Oct. 27 - Nov. 10), you must log into FlexOnline to elect a Wellness Benefit for 2026 -- the Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA) or the Dartmouth Fitness Membership at Lewinstein Athletic Center -- otherwise, you will be defaulted to the LSA.

 

About the Program

The Pulse Program will be discontinued on December 31, 2025. Wellness at Dartmouth partners with a well-being organization, Personify Health (formerly known as Virgin Pulse), to offer an engaging and motivating program that aims to continually maintain and improve the health of our community.

This comprehensive program provides a free activity tracking device (one per participant) and cash rewards of up to $400 per calendar year (eligible spouses, who are enrolled in the employee's Dartmouth medical plan, may also enroll in Pulse if the employee elected Pulse as their wellness benefit) for participating in a variety of healthy activities including:

  • Fun, step-based team MOVE IT challenges multiple times per year.
  • More than 45 digital coaching Journeys on topics such as sleeping well, reducing stress, eating healthy, managing finances, heart health, being tobacco-free, and more.
  • Monthly healthy habit challenges on topics such as sustainability, mindfulness and nutrition.
  • Daily health tips tailored to your interests.
  • Activity, sleep and nutrition trackers, daily health tips, social connections, a personal health assessment, and more!
  • My Care Checklist dashboard to self-track preventive exams, tests, and vaccinations. 
  • Spotlight mindfulness challenges with personalized goals. 
  • Journeys, daily cards, and healthy habit challenges to embrace diversity, equity and inclusion.

Many successes including weight loss, increased energy, reducing hemoglobin A1c levels, and eliminating blood pressure medications have been reported by Pulse participants.  


Rewards

Earn up to $400 per calendar year ($100 per calendar quarter; spouses enrolled on employee's medical plan through Dartmouth can also earn up to $400 per calendar year). To earn points, and receive rewards, you must upload your activity by the end of each calendar quarter; points reset to zero at the beginning the calendar quarter.

Earned rewards are cash. Once you earn a reward you can redeem for a Visa card or gift card to a variety of merchants, make a purchase in the Pulse store for fitness-related gear, or make a donation to a charity. If you receive a Visa or gift card, please be mindful of the expiration date (e.g., Visa cards expire after 6 months).

How to Redeem Rewards: 

  1. Log into Pulse at dartgo.org/pulse or via the Personify Health app
  2. Click on ‘Rewards’ and then ‘Spend’ to see your Rewards Cash balance and start the redemption process
  3. Select your redemption method—
    • Shop the Pulse Store
    • Get a Gift Card
    • Donate to a Cause
  4. Follow the check-out instructions
  5. If you receive a Visa or gift card, please be mindful of the expiration date

 

Please note: The Pulse Program will be ending December 31, 2025; all rewards must be redeemed by January 31, 2026, otherwise your rewards will be forfetied. If you lose eligibility prior to December 31, 2025, you will have 30 days from your termination date to redeem any earned rewards, otherwise your rewards will be forfeited.

Devices

All new participants receive one free MAX™ Go Activity and Sleep Tracker device, or a one-time credit that is equivalent to the price of the MAX Go device ($40 value) towards the purchase of another device in the Pulse store, that will synchronize your activity with the Pulse program (all credits applied after checkout).

How to order a free device: Sign in to your Pulse account. Go to More and select Store. Then, go to
Products > Fitness Tracking Devices. Select the Max Go device > Buy Now > Go to Cart. Once the Max Go has been added to your shopping cart, the subsidy will apply and your total will reflect $0.00. Or, use your credit of $40 toward the purchase of a different device in the Pulse store. Your device will be shipped directly to the address you provide.

Many devices, such as an Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, etc., also synchronize your activity with the program. 


How to Join

You must first elect the Pulse program as your Wellness Benefit option in FlexOnline to participate in this program. Please note: the Pulse Program will be discontinued on December 31, 2025.

You, and your eligible spouse, will be able to register the Pulse program at http://dartgo.org/joinpulse approximately one week after you make your election.

  • Click on ‘Create Account’ and enter ‘Dartmouth College’ in the company search field
  • Fill in the associated fields and follow the registration prompts (you will be asked for your Employee ID (this is your NetID; the same ID you use to log into your computer).
    • Spouses will need to enter the employee's ID, with an "S" on the end. 

 

After registering for Pulse, you will access the Pulse program at dartgo.org/pulse moving forward.

Tax Information 

Earned rewards are considered imputed taxable income and applicable taxes will be withheld from your paycheck (includes any rewards earned by employee and/or spouse). You are taxed the month following any month rewards were earned.
