Pulse Program
This is one of the Wellness Benefit options that active benefits eligible employees may elect in FlexOnline as a new hire, or during the Open Enrollment period.
About the Program
Wellness at Dartmouth has partnered with a well-being organization, Personify Health (formerly known as Virgin Pulse), to offer an engaging and motivating program that aims to continually maintain and improve the health of our community.
This comprehensive program provides a free activity tracking device (one per participant) and cash rewards of up to $400 (eligible spouses, who are enrolled in the employee's Dartmouth medical plan, may also enroll in Pulse if the employee elected Pulse as their wellness benefit) for participating in a vareity of healthy activities including:
- Fun, step-based team MOVE IT challenges multiple times per year.
- More than 45 digital coaching Journeys on topics such as sleeping well, reducing stress, eating healthy, managing finances, heart health, being tobacco-free, and more.
- Monthly healthy habit challenges on topics such as sustainability, mindfulness and nutrition.
- Daily health tips tailored to your interests.
- Activity, sleep and nutrition trackers, daily health tips, social connections, a personal health assessment, and more!
- My Care Checklist dashboard to self-track preventive exams, tests, and vaccinations.
- Spotlight mindfulness challenges with personalized goals.
- Journeys, daily cards, and healthy habit challenges to embrace diversity, equity and inclusion.

Many successes including weight loss, increased energy, reducing hemoglobin A1c levels, and eliminating blood pressure medications have been reported by Pulse participants.
Rewards
Earn up to $400 per calendar year ($100 per calendar quarter; spouses enrolled on employee's medical plan through Dartmouth can also earn up to $400 annually).
Earned rewards are cash. Once you earn a reward you can redeem for a Visa card or gift card to a variety of merchants, make a purchase in the Pulse store for fitness-related gear, or make a donation to a charity.
Please note: the option to transfer your earned rewards into your bank account ended on 12/31/24.
Devices
All new participants receive one free MAX™ Go Activity and Sleep Tracker device, or a one-time credit that is equivalent to the price of the MAX Go device ($40 value) towards the purchase of another device in the Pulse store, that will synchronize your activity with the Pulse program (all credits applied after checkout).
How to order a free device: Sign in to your Pulse account. Go to More and select Store. Then, go to
Products > Fitness Tracking Devices. Select the Max Go device > Buy Now > Go to Cart.
Once the Max Go has been added to your shopping cart, the subsidy will apply and your
total will reflect $0.00. Or, use your credit of $40 toward the purchase of a different
device in the Pulse store. Your device will be shipped directly to the address you
provide.
Many devices, such as an Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, etc., also synchronize your activity with the program.
How to Join
You must first elect the Pulse program as your Wellness Benefit option in FlexOnline to participate in this program. Please note: the Pulse Program is the default Wellnes Benefit for new hires.
- For new employees: you will be able to register the Pulse program at http://dartgo.org/joinpulse approximately one week after you make your election.
- For employees electing the Pulse program during Open Enrollment: you will be able to register for the Pulse program beginning in early January.
After registering for Pulse, you will access the Pulse program at dartgo.org/pulse moving forward.

Tax Information
Earned rewards are considered imputed taxable income and applicable taxes will be withheld from your paycheck (includes any rewards earned by employee and/or spouse).
